Multiple Choice Questions
Multiple choice questions have 4 possible answers. So, we have to choose one correct answer from A B C or D options. Then, write a correct answer on the answer sheet. We have to read the question carefully and also check that if there is any answers more than one. The number of questions may be variable in each question paper.
Identifying Information (True/false/not given)
In this type of question, we are given a number of statements and asked that the following statements agree with the information in the text and we have to write true or false or not given in the boxes on our answer sheet. It is very important to understand the difference between false and not given. False means that this statement contradicts the information in the text. Not given means that the statement neither agrees with the nor contradicts the information in the text. This type of question is to test our ability to recognise specific information given in the text.
Identifying writer’s view/claim (Yes/No/Not given)
In this type of questions, we are given a number of statements and asked that the following statements agree with the view of the writer. So we have to write yes or no or not given in the boxes of our answer sheet. In this case also, it is important to understand that the difference between ‘No’ and ‘Not given’. No means that the statement contradicts the writers your claim. Not given means that the statements neither agree with nor contradicts the writers view. This type of question is to analyse the ability to recognise opinion ideas.
